Isaac Mizrahi

Ever since his first show eight years ago in a SoHo loft, Isaac Mizrahi has been dazzling people with his smart clothes and quick wit. The consummate entertainer (part musician - he plays the piano, and part Movie Star - he is the subject of the highly acclaimed documentary "Unzipped" about his life as a designer), Isaac has quickly shot into the red-hot center of fashion, establishing himself for a uniquely Amercan exuberance and for putting a jaunty twist on classics.

"I love New York," says the devoted Manhattanite. "I don't think that I could live anywhere else. New York is the hub culturally of America. The thing I am happiest about is that I feel that I am not influenced by what goes on in Europe."

While his most inspirational place for designing is "my bed (in) NYC," his love of Hollywood and the influence of such American TV icons as Lucille Ball and Mary Tyler Moore can readily be seen in his work.

Isaac's passion for the screen and for all that is theatrical made designing eyewear and sunglasses a natural extension of his collection. "Eyewear instantly expresses one's personality even more than clothing," says Isaac.
